Harvard University announced on Mar. 10 that three of its student-athletes will compete at the 2026 NCAA Skiing Championships, scheduled for March 11-14 in Utah. Sophomore Duncan Armstrong and senior Luke Kearing will represent the men’s alpine team, while junior Meredith Schwartz will compete in women’s nordic events.
The participation of these athletes highlights Harvard’s continued presence at the national level in collegiate skiing. The event brings together top skiers from across the country, with alpine competitions taking place at Utah Olympic Park in Park City and nordic races held at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center in Midway.
Armstrong is set to make his second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships after a season that included ten top-30 finishes and a podium result with second place in giant slalom at the Middlebury Carnival/NCAA Regional Championships. Kearing, competing in his final season, earned six top-30 finishes during the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) season and achieved a best finish of fifth place in slalom. Schwartz will make her NCAA debut following seven top-30 results this year, including seventh place in sprint classic at the Vermont Carnival.
Harvard has qualified student-athletes for the NCAA Championships for eight straight competitive seasons since 2018. The nordic program has sent participants each year during this period, while alpine skiers have qualified for six consecutive seasons since 2020. In total, Harvard has been represented at NCAAs in 25 different seasons dating back to 1964.
Selection for the championships is based on regional performance, with a maximum of twelve athletes per institution allowed—three per gender per discipline. Seventy-four men and seventy-four women are chosen nationally from designated regions.
Scott MacPherson serves as head coach for Harvard Alpine Skiing and is entering his ninth season with two EISA Coach of the Year awards. Cate Brams leads Harvard Nordic Skiing into their second season as head coach.
