Harvard University announced on Mar. 12 that two of its athletes will compete at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas, marking the end of the Crimson’s indoor track and field season. The event will take place on Friday, Mar. 13 and Saturday, Mar. 14 at the Randal Tyson Track Center, with live coverage available on ESPN+.

The participation of junior Sophia Gorriaran and Tito Alofe highlights Harvard’s continued presence at the national level in collegiate track and field. Both athletes are returning to the NCAA Indoor Championships for a third consecutive year, reflecting their consistent performance in their respective events.

Gorriaran, from Providence, Rhode Island, is set to run the 800 meters for the fifth time at an NCAA championship during her career with Harvard. She is a four-time All-American in this event and finished seventh last season with a time of 2:02.57 to earn All-America First Team honors at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships. Gorriaran also contributed to Harvard’s women’s 4×400 meter relay team that earned All-America First Team recognition.

This season, Gorriaran set a new NCAA record in the women’s 1000 meters with a time of 2:37.72—the first sub-2:38 performance by any student-athlete in NCAA history—and was part of a distance medley relay team that posted another NCAA record at the Penn Relays in 2024. She currently ranks eleventh nationally in the 800 meters after posting a time of 2:01.30 at the Dr. Sander Scorcher meet and recently won Ivy League titles in both the women’s 800 meters and mile.

Alofe, from Peachtree City, Georgia, is competing in his third straight men’s high jump event at these championships as a three-time All-American across indoor and outdoor seasons. He holds this year’s top mark in both the northeast region and Ivy League with a jump of 2.21 meters (7 feet, 3 inches), ranking twelfth nationally. Last year he placed twelfth overall with a clearance of 2.16 meters (7 feet, 1 inch) and was named USTFCCCA Northeast Outdoor Men’s Field Athlete of the Year.

Following this weekend’s competition, Harvard will begin its outdoor track season on Thursday, Mar. 19 at the Kirk Baptiste Invitational.
