Harvard track and field athletes posted strong performances at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, and the Pepsi Florida Relays, according to an April 3 update from the team. Abby Dennis and Jacklynn Okereke made notable contributions by securing places in the program’s record book during the women’s 400-meter hurdles event.

The results highlight Harvard’s continued competitiveness in collegiate track and field events. The team’s achievements at these high-profile meets demonstrate progress for both individual athletes and relay teams.

At the Texas Relays, Harvard’s men’s 4×400-meter relay team—composed of Harlow Tong, Arpad Kovacs, Hudson Allain, and Amari Turner—qualified for finals with a time of 3:08.51. This result marks the second-fastest time in school history for this event. In addition, LeRoy Horton, Jonas Clarke, Timi Esan, and Amari Turner reached the finals in the men’s 4×100-meter relay with a time of 39.72 seconds, tying their previous best set last month at another meet.

Timi Esan narrowly missed qualifying in the men’s 100 meters but finished ninth overall with a time of 10.15 seconds; Jonas Clarke also competed in this event with a finish of 10.32 seconds. Oliver Parker placed seventh in the men’s 400-meter hurdles final (52.30), while Milina Wepiwe was top among collegiate competitors—and second overall—in women’s discus throw (53.92 meters). Joachim Johnson tied for sixth place in men’s high jump by clearing a height of 2.04 meters.

At the Pepsi Florida Relays, Mfoniso Andrew, Ella Cooper, Mickaila Haisley, and Saige Forbes advanced to finals in the women’s 4×100-meter relay after posting a ninth-best preliminary time of 44.52 seconds. Marta Amani finished fifth overall in women’s long jump (6.18 meters). In other races, Ella Cooper took eighteenth place (23.77) while Mickaila Haisley came twenty-third (24:00) in women’s 200 meters.

In particular focus were Abby Dennis’s performance—clocking one minute flat point two seven seconds to move into ninth all-time at Harvard—and Jacklynn Okereke’s finish just behind her at one minute flat point three two seconds to remain tenth on Harvard’s all-time list for women’s 400-meter hurdles.

Competition continues tomorrow as Harvard athletes participate further at both relays as well as an additional meet scheduled at UConn Dog Fight invite.
