Harvard women’s lacrosse will travel to Philadelphia for an Ivy League game against the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, April 2. The match is scheduled to begin at noon at Franklin Field and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The upcoming contest holds significance as Harvard aims to secure its second consecutive conference victory after a recent win over Brown. The team has won three straight games and seeks to improve its standing in the Ivy League, where it currently trails several teams including Yale, Penn, Cornell, Princeton, and Dartmouth.
Last weekend, Harvard defeated Brown 12–9 following a strong first half that saw the Crimson score eight unanswered goals. Charlotte Hodgson played a key role with her third hat trick of the season and has scored seven goals in her last three games. Cecilia and Callie Batchelder combined for eight points in the game; together they have contributed 31 points over the last three matches. Grace Mullahy also recorded a hat trick while Despina Giannakopoulos made defensive contributions with two ground balls.
Historically, Penn has won eight of the last ten meetings between these teams. However, Harvard broke a losing streak against Penn last season with a comeback victory at Jordan Field. In that game, Charley Meier tied her career high with three goals while goalkeeper Lizzie Francioli made nine saves.
Several returning players are expected to contribute this season. Callie Batchelder and Charlotte Hodgson lead the team in goals through eight games with 19 each; either could become the first Crimson player this year to reach 20 goals. Last season saw standout performances from Caroline Mullahy who set new records for assists at both program and league levels.
Looking ahead, Harvard will continue its schedule next Tuesday with an away game against the Wildcats in Durham.
