Harvard women’s lacrosse will travel to Durham, North Carolina, to face the No. 15 ranked Duke Blue Devils on March 17 in the second of back-to-back Atlantic Coast Conference matchups. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start and will be streamed live on ACCNX.
The matchup is significant as Harvard seeks its second non-conference win of the season, holding a current record of one win and three losses in non-conference play. This marks only the second time in three seasons that Harvard has played at Koskinen Stadium, with their previous meeting against Duke resulting in a narrow 15-13 loss for the Crimson.
In their most recent outing, Harvard fell to Boston College after the Eagles established an early lead with seven first-quarter goals. Despite winning seven of the first eight draw controls, Harvard was unable to convert those opportunities into points. The Crimson’s defense responded by forcing five turnovers in the second quarter, while Grace Mullahy scored Harvard’s first goal of the game before halftime.
Key contributors this season include Callie Batchelder, who leads the team with 13 goals through six games and has scored 41 goals over her last 20 appearances. Charlotte Hodgson follows closely with 12 goals and leads in total points with an additional 11 assists. Hodgson is already more than halfway to surpassing her career-high point total from last year just six games into this season.
Statistically, Harvard has outscored opponents in fourth quarters by a margin of 22-18 and recorded a total of 50 caused turnovers across five games—seven more than their opponents have managed. The team averages nearly eleven goals per game.
Looking back at last season, Harvard maintained a consistent presence in national rankings and achieved notable wins over UAlbany, Navy, and UConn early on. Caroline Mullahy stood out by breaking school and Ivy League records for assists and becoming one of only fifteen players in NCAA history to reach at least 150 career assists.
This year’s squad welcomes eight new members from the Class of 2029, including Lexie Koch—ranked No. 40 by Inside Lacrosse Power 100—and two others receiving honorable mention recognition. Team leadership includes Despina Giannakopoulos and Kate Gilliam; both bring extensive experience from previous seasons.
As Harvard prepares for its upcoming contest against Duke, returning offensive leaders such as Hodgson, Batchelder, and Grace Mullahy are expected to play key roles.
