Harvard University’s wrestling team is set to face Brown University on Sunday, February 22 at 1:00 p.m. in its final regular season match. The Crimson recently secured a 25-9 win over Hofstra, winning seven out of ten bouts.
The projected lineup for Harvard includes Logan Brzozowski at 125 pounds, Coleman Nogle at 133, either Dante Frinzi or Sidney Tildsley at 141, Jack Crook at 149, Jimmy Harrington or Wyatt Hepner at 157, Joseph Cangro at 165, Haden Bottiglieri or Ben Smith at 174, Matthew Walsh at 184, Hudson Skove or Dylan Greenstein at 197, and Daniel Bittner or Jaeden Kinlock at heavyweight.
Three Harvard wrestlers appeared in the first RPI rankings of the season released on February 12: Jimmy Harrington (No. 7 at 157), Logan Brzozowski (No. 19 at 125), and Jack Crook (No. 33 at 149). Harrington also holds the No. 25 spot in the second Coaches Rankings for his weight class.
In national college rankings for the season, senior Jimmy Harrington is ranked No.15 by WrestleStat and appears in other major polls as well.
Recent performances include a home victory over Princeton—Harvard’s first since 2008—where they overcame a late deficit with wins from Matthew Walsh, Dylan Greenstein, and Hudson Skove in the final three bouts to secure a narrow victory. Against Binghamton earlier this year, Harvard won six consecutive matches to finish with a decisive lead.
At tournament events throughout the season such as the NWCA Multi-Division Duals and Midlands Championships, several Harvard wrestlers placed individually while the team finished seventh overall in Cedar Falls and had multiple placers in Evanston and Philadelphia competitions.
Senior Jimmy Harrington has been recognized as Ivy League Wrestler of the Week after winning titles early in the season and representing Harvard last year at the NCAA Championships where he advanced to day two of competition.
Team captains for this season are seniors Jimmy Harrington (157 pounds), Jack Crook (149 pounds), and junior Coleman Nogle (133 pounds). Six first-year athletes have joined Harvard’s roster this year across various weight classes.
Looking ahead on their schedule are key tournaments including next month’s Ivy League Championship on March 8 in New York City followed by participation in the NCAA Championships later that month in Cleveland.
Jay Weiss continues as head coach for his thirty-second season leading Harvard wrestling since taking over during the mid-1990s.
