Harvard University wrestling earned the NCAA Division I Men’s Team Scholar All-America Award from the National Wrestling Coaches Association, ranking fifth in the nation as a team, according to an announcement on April 7.
The recognition highlights Harvard’s strong performance both academically and athletically among collegiate wrestling programs. The award is given annually to teams that demonstrate excellence in academics while competing at a high level in athletics.
This year, Harvard ranked behind Arizona State University, Brown University, Duke University, and the University of Missouri. The reported team grade point averages were: Arizona State (3.689827), Brown (3.6825), Duke (3.678821), Missouri (3.669904), and Harvard (3.658433).
Earlier in the week, eight members of the Crimson wrestling team received NCAA Division I Men’s Individual Scholar All-American Awards from the NWCA. Those recognized included Daniel Bittner, Haden Bottiglieri, Joseph Cangro, Jack Crook, Jimmy Harrington, Coleman Nogle, Hudson Skove, and Matthew Walsh.
The National Wrestling Coaches Association’s annual awards serve as a benchmark for academic achievement within college athletics programs across the country.
