Sophomore Jack Henry scored his first collegiate goal to help the Northeastern men’s hockey team secure a 2-0 victory over UMass Lowell on Friday night at Tsongas Arena in Lowell, Massachusetts.

The game remained scoreless after the first period, with UMass Lowell narrowly leading in shots on goal, 21-20. The breakthrough came midway through the second period when Henry found the net at 13:11. The play began with sophomore Griffin Erdman winning a puck battle along the boards, followed by freshman Amine Hajibi delivering a pass from below the endline to Henry. Henry then maneuvered past his defender and scored what would be the game-winning goal.

In the closing minutes, UMass Lowell pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker. Erdman intercepted a play and made a backhand pass to junior Eli Sebastian, who scored an empty-net goal to secure Northeastern’s win.

Goaltender Lawton Zacher made 32 saves for his 11th win of the season and recorded his fifth shutout, which leads the nation. Both Sebastian and senior Austen May contributed defensively with three blocked shots each.

Northeastern will return to Tsongas Arena on Saturday night to complete their weekend series against UMass Lowell at 6:05 p.m.
