Tufts University men’s lacrosse player Jack Regnery was selected 20th overall in the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League draft by the Boston Cannons on April 14.

Regnery, a senior captain and reigning Division III Player of the Year, was chosen with the fourth pick of the third round. He was the only Division III player picked in this year’s draft. The selection came after Tufts’ victory over No. 5 Babson College earlier that day, where Regnery scored six points.

This marks Regnery as only the third Tufts player to be drafted into a U.S. professional lacrosse league, following John Uppgren and Conor Helfrich who were both drafted in 2016 by Major League Lacrosse teams. Uppgren went to the Boston Cannons as the 49th overall pick, while Helfrich was selected by the Denver Outlaws at number 66.

Regnery is also notable for being the first Division III athlete drafted into PLL since Salisbury University’s Cross Ferrara in 2023 and is now considered the highest Division III pick since Ryan Lee of RIT was chosen eleventh overall in a previous entry draft. This season, Regnery leads his team with 62 points and four game-winning goals. As a junior, he earned honors as Lt. Col. Turnbull Outstanding Attackman of the Year and consensus First Team All-American.

He currently ranks second all-time at Tufts for goals scored with 221 and has reached second place for career points after surpassing D.J. Hessler on April 14; only John Uppgren remains ahead of him on that list. Additionally, Regnery is among just eight players to have recorded more than one hundred assists during his college career.

“So proud of Jack. He earned this and he is more than capable of excelling in the PLL,” said head coach Casey D’Annolfo. “He’s not only an incredible player but an incredible teammate and person. He’ll be great in the Boston Cannons locker room and will help them win games this summer.”

The selection highlights continued recognition for talent from NCAA Division III programs within professional lacrosse leagues.
