Sophomore forward James Hagens and senior defenseman Lukas Gustafsson from Boston College were named Hockey East monthly award winners, according to an announcement by the league office on Wednesday.
Hagens received the Boston Children’s Hospital Player of the Month honor. He led all players in Hockey East with eight goals, four multi-point games, and four power-play goals during February. Hagens was also tied for third in assists with seven and recorded at least one point in each of the nine games played that month. His performance included a hat-trick during a 5-2 victory over No. 10 UConn.
Gustafsson was named Army ROTC Defender of the Month. The senior captain scored eight points—three goals and five assists—which tied for the most among defensemen in the league for February. Gustafsson contributed significantly during the Beanpot tournament, tallying two goals and three assists across those games, including one goal and two assists in the Beanpot Championship.
Boston College is scheduled to play against UMass on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Mullins Center, followed by their regular season finale against Northeastern on Saturday at Kelley Rink.
