Logan Styles, a junior on the Boston University men’s lacrosse team, was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, according to a March 16 announcement from the conference.
The recognition comes after Styles’ performance in Boston University’s 10-8 victory over Army West Point, which was ranked No. 13/14 at the time. In that game, Styles recorded a career-high four caused turnovers and collected one ground ball. He played a key role in limiting Army’s Evan Plunkett, the league’s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, forcing him into five turnovers and preventing him from scoring while under his defense. The Terrier defense held Army to just 16 shots on goal during the match.
Styles is now a two-time recipient of this weekly honor. Over the season, he leads Boston University with 16 caused turnovers and has picked up seven ground balls. He has achieved at least three caused turnovers in five different games this season. Entering this week, Styles ranks 11th nationally and third in the Patriot League with an average of 2.29 caused turnovers per game.
Boston University is currently ranked No. 15 and will next play against Colgate on Saturday, March 21.
The award highlights both individual achievement for Styles and strong defensive efforts by Boston University as they continue their season.
