Lydia Johnson finishes 13th in women’s saber at NCAA Championships

Lydia Johnson completed her participation in the NCAA National Championships on March 20 with the final two rounds of the women’s saber competition, finishing with 10 wins over five rounds and placing 13th nationally.

Johnson’s performance marks a strong showing at a highly competitive event, highlighting her skill among the top collegiate fencers in the country.

The men’s portion of the championships is set to begin next, with Ivan Goriunov starting in epee at 9:00 a.m. Elijah Onik and Yikai Lu will compete in foil beginning at 11:00 a.m., while Berman will start his saber matches at 1:00 p.m. The men will follow the same schedule as Johnson, with rounds one through three on Saturday and concluding rounds, semifinals, and finals on Sunday.

This schedule provides each athlete an opportunity to advance through multiple stages of competition over two days. The event brings together top collegiate fencers from across the nation to compete for individual and team honors.

As the men’s events get underway, attention turns to how these athletes will perform following Johnson’s efforts in representing their program.
