Matthew Morden and Mick Thompson of the Harvard Crimson men’s ice hockey team were named to the All-Ivy League teams on March 11, with Morden earning First Team honors and Thompson being selected for the Second Team. Philip Tresca was recognized as the team’s Academic All-Ivy recipient.
The recognition highlights the players’ performances during the season against Ivy League opponents. Both Morden and Thompson recorded seven points in ten games within league play. Morden contributed one goal and six assists, while Thompson tallied three goals and four assists.
Morden was also the only Harvard player chosen for the All-ECAC Team this year. He had a standout season on defense, scoring four goals and providing fourteen assists during regular season play. This marked a significant improvement from his sophomore year, as he tripled his previous point total and managed to record points in consecutive games on six occasions.
Thompson, who was last year’s Ivy League Rookie of the Year, led Harvard in points for a second straight season. He has accumulated nine goals and eighteen assists so far this season. Notably, he scored an overtime game-winning goal that advanced Harvard to the ECAC quarterfinals this weekend.
Tresca received his first career All-Ivy accolade with his academic honor. Over twenty-seven games this season, he has registered eight goals and eleven assists.
