First-year forward Morgan McGathey has been named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team, according to an announcement from Harvard Women’s Hockey. The selection was made by the league’s coaches.

McGathey played a significant role for Harvard during her first season, leading the team in both points and goals. She recorded 15 points and 10 goals over 30 games in the regular season. In ECAC play, she also led her team with 12 points. Her performance included a +9 rating and only three penalties throughout the year. Additionally, McGathey excelled in faceoffs, winning nearly 60 percent of her attempts (322-218).

She is part of a strong group of first-year players at Harvard. Collectively, they earned four ECAC Rookie of the Week awards and one Rookie of the Month honor this season. McGathey received a Rookie of the Week award on November 17 after scoring three goals during away games against Yale and Brown on November 14 and 15.

Harvard will compete against Princeton in the ECAC Championship Quarterfinals this weekend. The best-of-three series will take place at Hobey Baker Rink with games scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday if necessary.
