The Northeastern Huskies baseball team secured a two-game sweep over Grambling State with a 10-0 win at Alex Box Stadium on Sunday evening. This victory brings the Huskies’ record to 2-6, while Grambling State falls to 3-8.

Three Northeastern players hit their first home runs of the season during the game. Cooper Tarantino recorded his first career home run as part of this effort. The Huskies scored in six different innings and totaled ten stolen bases, maintaining an aggressive approach on the base paths for both games against Grambling State this weekend.

Pitcher Andrew Wertz led Northeastern with five shutout innings and achieved a career-high seven strikeouts, allowing only one walk. He was followed by Andrew Basel, who pitched three perfect innings and struck out one batter, and Tom Mahoney, who closed out the game despite giving up a leadoff single.

Northeastern took an early lead in the third inning when Harrison Feinberg singled, stole two bases, and scored on a wild pitch after Eric Cha walked. In the fourth inning, AJ Aschettino’s single set up Tarantino’s two-run homer to make it 3-0. The seventh inning saw back-to-back home runs from Feinberg and Ryan Gerety to extend the lead further.

In the eighth inning, Chris Walsh and Feinberg drew consecutive walks before stealing second and third base together. Matt Brinker then drove them in with a double to right field for two more runs. The ninth inning included additional runs from a bases-loaded walk drawn by Feinberg and a two-run single by Gerety.

Feinberg finished with two hits—including a home run—two RBIs, three runs scored, and three stolen bases. Gerety also had two hits with a home run and three RBIs. Tarantino contributed his first multi-RBI game alongside his home run.

Northeastern will remain in Baton Rouge for another matchup against No. 2 LSU on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. CT (7:30 p.m. ET), which will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
