The Northeastern Huskies baseball team lost 12-2 to the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday evening at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers, Florida. The defeat marks the Huskies’ fourth consecutive loss to start the 2026 season, while Minnesota improved its record to 4-1.

Minnesota took an early lead by scoring three runs in the second inning and adding another in the third. The Huskies managed to respond in the fourth inning with a two-run rally. Harrison Feinberg started the frame with a double and later scored on an RBI single by Ryan Gerety. Will Fosberg drove in Gerety for Northeastern’s second run, temporarily narrowing Minnesota’s advantage to 4-2.

However, Minnesota answered back immediately, scoring another run in the bottom of the fourth and extending their lead through subsequent innings. By the seventh inning, they had put the game out of reach.

Northeastern struggled offensively throughout the game, recording only four hits and going 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position. Feinberg led at the plate for Northeastern, going 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base. Gerety contributed a hit, a walk, and an RBI.

Andrew Wertz started for Northeastern, pitching four innings and allowing five earned runs on seven hits while striking out three batters. Matthew Sapienza and Joseph Hauser pitched in relief for the final 2.1 innings.

The series between Northeastern and Minnesota is scheduled to conclude Sunday at Lee Health Complex in Fort Myers.
