Northeastern University’s baseball team lost to the University of Connecticut 21-5 in a seven-inning game on March 31 at Friedman Diamond in Brookline, Massachusetts.
The game saw Northeastern drop to a record of 14-13 while UConn evened its season at 15-15. The result highlights challenges for Northeastern as it heads into upcoming conference play.
Carmelo Musacchia and Harrison Feinberg each hit home runs for Northeastern. Musacchia connected in the first inning, and Feinberg homered in the third to tie the score at four. Charlie Criscola contributed with an RBI triple that scored Carter Bentley and finished with an RBI on the day. Will Fosberg added a sacrifice fly, and AJ Aschettino drove in another run with a groundout.
UConn started strong with a two-run homer in the top of the first inning. After trading runs early, UConn pulled ahead for good during a four-run fourth inning and kept Northeastern from scoring after the fourth frame. UConn totaled its 21 runs on just 11 hits but took advantage of 13 walks and one error by Northeastern.
Northeastern will remain at home for its next series against Monmouth beginning Thursday, April 2.
