The Northeastern University baseball team will travel to Lawrence, Kansas, for the NCAA Lawrence Regional beginning Friday, May 29. The Huskies, holding a 38-20 record and seeded fourth in the regional bracket, are set to face top-seeded and nationally 15th-ranked Kansas at Hoglund Ballpark at 12 p.m. Central Time. Arkansas and Missouri State complete the four-team double-elimination field, with all games available on ESPN+ and WRBB Sports.
Northeastern’s path to the tournament was marked by a series of elimination game victories after being shut out by Hofstra in their Colonial Athletic Association Tournament opener. The Huskies responded with wins over UNCW and Hofstra before freshman Cooper Maher delivered a strong start in the championship round against Campbell. Catcher Will Fosberg contributed a two-run home run as part of a seven-run effort that propelled Northeastern forward. In the winner-take-all finale, Robbie O’Connor pitched five innings on short rest, while Harrison Feinberg and Tyler Harmony provided key hits to tie the game late. Ryan Gerety drove in Harmony for the walk-off win that completed an improbable comeback through the loser’s bracket.
This run made Northeastern only the fourth team in Colonial Athletic Association Tournament history to win after dropping its opening game and the first to do so in ten years. The Huskies are making consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since the 1970s and have claimed back-to-back conference titles for the first time ever. Last season’s squad secured its first NCAA Regional victory since 1973.
The current roster features redshirt senior Harrison Feinberg, who has set program records for career home runs (46) and single-season stolen bases (42), alongside outfielder Ryan Gerety (.323 batting average) and designated hitter Matt Brinker (.310). Carmelo Musacchia has also established a new program mark with 97 career stolen bases. On the pitching staff, Robbie O’Connor leads with nine wins while Andrew Wertz anchors relief efforts with six saves.
Kansas enters as Big 12 champions following a decisive win over West Virginia; Arkansas arrives after an SEC Tournament loss; Missouri State represents Conference USA despite falling short in its own league tournament.
