The Northeastern University baseball team is set to play four games in Baton Rouge, Louisiana this weekend. The Huskies will face Grambling State University on Friday and Sunday, and No. 2 ranked Louisiana State University (LSU) on Saturday and Monday at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

The first game against Grambling State is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. Central Time, with a rematch on Sunday evening. Northeastern will take on LSU on Saturday afternoon and again on Monday night. Both matchups against LSU will be available for streaming via SEC Network+.

Saturday’s game marks only the second time Northeastern has played LSU. Their previous meeting was in May 2003 during the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional, where LSU won 11-8. This season, LSU enters as the defending national champions after winning their eighth title at the 2025 College World Series. Under head coach Jay Johnson, LSU started the season with eight straight wins before a recent loss to McNeese ended their 16-game win streak from last year. Currently, they are ranked first by Perfect Game and second by D1Baseball and Baseball America.

Friday and Sunday’s contests against Grambling State represent the first meetings between these programs. Grambling State holds a 3-5 record under head coach Davin Pierre and competes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). They began their season with victories over Alcorn State and Alabama A&M at the MLB HBCU Power Series but have since experienced mixed results in other tournaments.

Before traveling to Baton Rouge, Northeastern played an exhibition game against the Boston Red Sox at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida on February 20. The Huskies briefly led early in that matchup before falling behind as Boston scored multiple runs across several innings, ultimately ending with an 18-3 Red Sox victory—continuing Boston’s undefeated record in this annual series that dates back to 1977.

Northeastern recorded seven hits—all singles—and five stolen bases during that exhibition game, marking their highest single-game hit total against Boston since 2017.
