Ryan Gerety’s walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning scored Tyler Harmony from second base as the Northeastern Huskies defeated Campbell 3-2 on May 24 at Brooks Field, securing the 2026 Colonial Athletic Association Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The victory marks Northeastern’s first back-to-back CAA titles and third overall in program history. The team also earned consecutive NCAA Regional berths for the first time. Andrew Wertz, who appeared in all four tournament wins for Northeastern, was named CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player after pitching 1.1 scoreless innings of relief in the championship game.

Six pitchers contributed to holding Campbell to two runs on eight hits. Robbie O’Connor started on short rest and delivered five innings, allowing two runs and striking out two without issuing a walk. After Campbell took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning, Northeastern responded with runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to tie the game. The bullpen held off further scoring threats, stranding multiple Campbell runners throughout.

Harmony led off the ninth with a double before Feinberg singled, setting up Gerety’s decisive hit that ended the game. O’Connor finished his outing having stranded five runners over five frames, while Wertz closed out by retiring all three batters he faced in order during the top of the ninth.

Carmelo Musacchia reached a career milestone with his 200th college hit during this game. Four Huskies—Harrison Feinberg, Ryan Gerety, Luc Rising, and Andrew Wertz—were named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances throughout Northeastern’s run from an elimination bracket position.

With this win, Northeastern advances to its twelfth NCAA Tournament appearance overall and will learn its regional assignment during Monday’s NCAA Selection Show broadcast on ESPN2.
