The Northeastern Huskies advanced to the Colonial Athletic Association Championship game after winning two elimination contests on May 23 at Brooks Field in Wilmington, North Carolina. The team defeated Hofstra 5-4 and top-seeded Campbell 7-4, setting up a winner-take-all matchup with Campbell on Sunday.

These victories keep Northeastern’s hopes alive for a return to the NCAA Regional round. Andrew Wertz saved both games, marking his second and third appearances in as many days. The Huskies improved their season record to 37-20.

In the first game against Hofstra, Ryan Griffin pitched 5.1 innings of one-hit baseball and AJ Aschettino hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning. Wertz recorded his sixth save of the season by securing the final out as Northeastern survived late rallies from Hofstra. The win was Northeastern’s first-ever CAA Tournament victory over Hofstra.

Against Campbell, freshman right-hander Cooper Maher made his first career start and earned the win with 5.2 innings pitched, allowing only two hits. A five-run sixth inning propelled Northeastern past Campbell, highlighted by Will Fosberg’s home run and multiple runs driven in by Musacchia and Criscola. Wertz again closed out the game for his second save of the day.

With these results, Northeastern reached its fifth CAA Championship game appearance in six seasons, having previously won titles in 2021 and 2025 while finishing as runners-up in other recent years. This marks their third time advancing through the elimination bracket to reach the final within five years.

Northeastern will face Campbell once more on Sunday at Brooks Field for a chance at an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
