The Northeastern men’s basketball team will play against the College of Charleston at the Cabot Center on Saturday. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on NESN and FloCollege.
This matchup marks Northeastern’s annual Coaches vs. Cancer game, part of a national initiative between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). According to organizers, “For more than 30 years, this initiative has engaged coaches nationwide to leverage their leadership and influence to support the American Cancer’s Society’s vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.”
Saturday’s contest will be the 26th meeting between Northeastern and Charleston. The Cougars currently lead the series with 14 wins compared to Northeastern’s 11, including victories in each of their last seven encounters.
Northeastern players have shown strong individual performances this season. William Kermoury scored a career-high 31 points against Elon on January 15 by making 11 out of 18 field goal attempts. He became the fourth Husky this season to record at least ten made field goals in a single game. Only one other Colonial Athletic Association school, Campbell, has had four different players reach that mark this year.
Freshmen have also played significant roles for Northeastern throughout the season. In eight games so far, a freshman has either led or tied for the team lead in scoring.
