The Northeastern University men’s basketball team is set to continue its homestand this week with two games at the Cabot Center. The Huskies will face Drexel on Thursday at 7 p.m., followed by a matchup against Hofstra on Saturday at 2 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on FloCollege and NESN.
Northeastern and Drexel are meeting for the 76th time, with Drexel leading the series 46-29. Earlier in the season, Drexel defeated Northeastern 83-78 in Philadelphia despite a strong performance from Xavier Abreu, who scored 19 points. In that game, Northeastern narrowed a significant deficit but was unable to complete the comeback.
On Saturday, Northeastern will play Hofstra for the 61st time. Hofstra leads that series as well, holding a 33-27 advantage after winning their most recent encounter earlier this month.
Before Saturday’s game against Hofstra, Northeastern will recognize its senior class: Youri Fritz and team managers Josh Miller and Vinny Lam. Fritz has played in 84 career games for Northeastern and has reached double figures nine times in his senior year, including two career-high performances of 21 points. He is also active in campus organizations such as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Health and Wellness Committee.
This season, injuries have forced Northeastern to use twelve different starting lineups—one of the highest totals among Division I teams alongside programs like USC and Alabama.
