The Northeastern men’s basketball team will conclude its regular season on Tuesday evening by hosting Monmouth at the Cabot Center. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on FloCollege.

This upcoming matchup marks the ninth meeting between Northeastern and Monmouth. Monmouth currently leads the series with five wins to Northeastern’s three. Earlier in the season, Monmouth secured an 81-68 victory over Northeastern in West Long Branch.

Junior guard Mike Loughnane has been a consistent presence for the Huskies, participating in every game this season and starting the last 20 contests. He ranks fourth in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) for assist-turnover ratio at 2.3. Loughnane had a standout performance against Charleston on January 31, scoring 24 points with four assists while shooting 11-of-16 from the field. He leads his team with 101 assists this season, achieving a career-high nine assists both against Elon on January 15 and at William & Mary on February 26. This achievement marks consecutive seasons since 2020 that a Northeastern player has reached at least 100 assists.

Loughnane’s father, Bill, also played for Northeastern from 1976 to 1980 and still holds the program record for most single-game assists—15 against Delaware on December 29, 1977—and is third all-time in team history with 500 assists across 100 games.

Following Tuesday’s game, Northeastern will focus on preparing for the upcoming Air Force Reserve CAA Men’s Basketball Championship beginning Friday. The Huskies are set to play North Carolina A&T, seeded twelfth, at 2 p.m., with coverage available via FloCollege. The winner of that matchup will advance to face the tournament’s fifth seed in Saturday’s second round at 2:30 p.m.

“Northeastern will take on No. 12 seed North Carolina A&T at 2 p.m. on FloCollege, with the winner advancing to Saturday’s Second Round game at 2:30 p.m. against the No. 5 seed in the tournament.”
