Northeastern University’s men’s hockey team overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat No. 13 Boston College 4-2 at Conte Forum on Saturday, securing a season sweep over the Eagles.

Boston College took an early lead with Lukas Gustafsson scoring on a power play in the first period. Nolan Joyce extended the Eagles’ advantage three minutes into the second period.

Northeastern responded with two goals before the end of the second period. Freshman Jack Pechar began the comeback at 5:43, scoring his first goal of the night with assists from freshman Matthew Maltais and junior Matthew Perkins. With two minutes left in the period, freshman Giacomo Martino tied the game at 2-2, netting his seventh power-play goal of the season. Senior Austen May and junior Dylan Hryckowian set up Martino for the equalizer.

The Huskies took their first lead at 6:26 in the third period when freshman Jacob Mathieu intercepted a pass in the neutral zone. After his shot rebounded, Hajibi scored to make it 3-2 for Northeastern.

Martino added another goal later in the third, assisted by Hryckowian, who kept play alive behind Boston College’s net and set up Martino for a five-hole finish.

Junior goaltender Lawton Zacher made 25 saves to record his 14th win this season. Freshman Noah Jones led Northeastern with three blocked shots, while Connor and Martino each had four shots on goal.

With this victory, Northeastern secured the No. 7 seed in the Hockey East Tournament and will host a first-round game on Wednesday. The opponent and game time have not yet been announced.
