The Northeastern women’s rowing team is set to compete in Ridgefield, New Jersey on April 12, where they will race against Rhode Island and vie for the Woodbury Cup against Columbia at Overpeck Park. The competition is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. with the third varsity eight event and will conclude with the varsity eight race at 10:50 a.m.

This regatta is important as it gives Northeastern another opportunity to test its strength against strong opponents early in the season. It also provides a chance for the Huskies to reclaim or defend key trophies like the Woodbury Cup.

In their most recent outing on the Charles River against Boston University, Northeastern’s third varsity eight finished first, while both their first and fourth varsity eights placed closely behind BU. Last spring, when Northeastern faced Columbia on the Charles River, they secured runner-up finishes in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight races. The Huskies also retained possession of the Council Cup over BU during that event.

Northeastern last raced Rhode Island in spring 2024, securing victories in several categories including the varsity eight, third varsity four, and third varsity eight events. They also achieved three runner-up finishes across other boat classes during that regatta.

Following this weekend’s races at Overpeck Park, Northeastern will return to action on April 18 at the Lake Morey Regatta in Vermont.
