The Northeastern women’s rowing team will compete for the Council Cup title against Boston University on April 3, with races set to begin at 7:10 a.m. on the Charles River.
The competition is significant as Northeastern aims to secure its third consecutive Council Cup victory. The event will feature several races, starting with the third and fourth varsity boats and concluding with the varsity eight race at 8:50 a.m.
Recently, Northeastern’s crew earned its first Colonial Athletic Association Boat of the Week honor of the season after performing strongly at the Doc Hosea Invitational. The Huskies raced against four nationally ranked programs, including No. 3 Yale. In Session I of that event, they recorded a time of 6:50.00 while competing against No. 12 Syracuse and No. 9 Virginia; in Session II, they improved their finish to 6:39.10 racing Yale.
Northeastern last competed on the Charles River during the Foot of the Charles regatta in November 2025, where their Bow Four varsity eight boat finished fourth out of twenty-five entries with a final time of 14:27.300 under coxswain Isabella Hsia.
Last year, Northeastern edged out Boston University by just over one second in the varsity eight race—finishing in 6:44.30—to claim back-to-back Council Cup titles.
After this weekend’s matchup, Northeastern is scheduled to travel to Ridgefield, New Jersey on April 11 to face Rhode Island and compete for another trophy—the Woodbury Cup—against Columbia at Overpeck Park.
