The Northeastern women’s ice hockey team, ranked sixth nationally, tied 2-2 with No. 13/14 Holy Cross on Thursday evening at Walter Brown Arena in Boston. Northeastern secured the extra Hockey East point by winning the shootout following a come-from-behind effort.

After a scoreless first period, Holy Cross scored twice within 32 seconds midway through the second period to take a 2-0 lead into the third. Northeastern responded in the final frame when senior Kristina Allard scored her second goal of the season at 11:24, assisted by senior Lily Brazis and junior Peyton Compton.

With time running out and trailing by one goal, Northeastern pulled sophomore goaltender Lisa Jönsson for an extra attacker. Senior Jules Constantinople then scored with just 31 seconds left to tie the game at 2-2.

The overtime period was scoreless, resulting in an official tie. The teams proceeded to a shootout for an additional Hockey East point. Jönsson made six saves during the shootout, while Allard scored again to secure the extra point for Northeastern.

Northeastern and Holy Cross are scheduled to conclude their two-game series on Saturday, January 31 at 6 p.m. in Worcester.
