The Northeastern women’s swimming and diving team continued their participation at the CAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday night at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex. The team had several athletes reach both championship and consolation finals, with a notable performance in the 200 Free Relay where they finished third.
Freshman Alex Fuller placed fourth in the 100 Fly championship final with a time of 53.41 seconds. Junior May Bradburn also competed in the same event, finishing seventh at 54.85 seconds. In the 100 Fly consolation final, junior Mary Nordmann took tenth place overall with a time of 54.70 seconds, while sophomore Kate Kerber finished sixteenth in 56.42 seconds.
In other events, freshman Abigail Gowern achieved a top-10 finish in the 400 IM by placing tenth in the consolation final with a time of 4:24.66.
Senior Anna Verlander led Northeastern in the 100 Back championship final, securing fifth place overall with a time of 54.29 seconds. Senior Teagan Osga followed closely behind with a seventh-place finish at 55.50 seconds. Freshman Sophie Bromley earned ninth place overall in the 100 Back consolation final after finishing in 55.42 seconds.
The evening concluded with Northeastern earning third place in the 200 Free Relay as Mary Nordmann, Alex Fuller, Kotoko Blair, and May Bradburn combined for a school-record time of 1:30.99, surpassing their previous record set during last year’s championships.
At the end of day three, Northeastern stood fourth overall with a total of 614 points.
The Huskies are scheduled to return to competition on Saturday for the final day of events at the CAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
