In a tweet posted on March 28, 2025, Pressley highlighted the case of Rümeysa Öztürk, stating that she was kidnapped because she expressed an opinion conflicting with former U.S. President Donald Trump’s views. Pressley declared, “We’re demanding that she be released, her visa restored, and her rights to due process & free speech respected.”
Later that day, Pressley took to Twitter to criticize figures such as Donald Trump and Elon Musk for allegedly undermining labor unions. She stated on March 28, 2025, that “Trump and Musk are attacking labor unions because they don’t want workers to have power. Now more than ever, I stand with organized labor because our destinies are tied.”
On the following day, March 29, 2025, Pressley reported a concerning incident involving her constituent, Rümeysa Öztürk, whom she claimed was abducted by DHS officials. According to Pressley, “This week, my Somerville constituent Rümeysa Öztürk was abducted in broad daylight by DHS officials and sent to Louisiana to be locked in a detention center. She has not been charged with any crime.”
