Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, representing Massachusetts’ 7th district since 2019, has recently addressed several pressing issues through her social media platform. Her statements focus on social security checks, immigration enforcement in Massachusetts, and emergency medical care policies.
On June 3, 2025, Congresswoman Pressley expressed support for ending the seizure of Social Security checks. She stated: “Good. No one should have their Social Security checks seized—ever.” She advocated for passing legislation she co-authored with Senators Cory Booker and Elizabeth Warren to end garnishment as a tool for student debt collection.
Later that day, Pressley criticized the recent actions of ICE officials in Massachusetts. On June 3, she remarked: “Yesterday, while ICE officials smugly touted the arrest of nearly 1,500 people in Massachusetts over the past month, I convened immigrant families from my district who have been unjustly harmed by Trump’s cruel and unlawful mass deportation agenda.” Her comments highlight concerns over immigration enforcement practices under former President Donald Trump’s administration.
In another statement made on June 3, Congresswoman Pressley condemned changes by Trump’s Health and Human Services (HHS) regarding abortion care during medical emergencies. She tweeted: “No one should ever be denied the emergency medical care they need—period.” She described the erasure of guidance protecting abortion care as “cruel,” “callous,” and “outright dangerous.”
Ayanna Pressley has served in the U.S. Congress since succeeding Mike Capuano in 2019. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1974, she now resides in Boston.
