Ryan Griffin has been named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, according to an announcement on Apr. 6 by the league. The senior right-hander from North Andover, Massachusetts, earned this recognition after a strong performance against Monmouth.

Griffin faced a Monmouth lineup that led the conference in nearly every offensive category. He set a new career high with nine strikeouts over six innings, allowing just one run on two hits and walking two batters. This effort improved his record to 4-0 for the season.

After giving up a solo home run in the first inning, Griffin allowed only one single during the rest of his outing and limited Monmouth’s offense to just one run overall.

Earlier in the season, Griffin received his first Pitcher of the Week honor on March 9 following a week where he started and won against #2 LSU and later came into relief during an extra innings game against Stony Brook. In that game, he helped secure a win when Northeastern took the lead in the thirteenth inning.

Currently, Griffin leads Northeastern’s weekend rotation with a 3.06 earned run average over 32.1 innings pitched.
