Theodor Schucht set a new Boston College men’s track and field record at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday. Schucht completed the 3000m race in 7:49.03, surpassing Chris Georgules’ 32-year-old record by more than ten seconds. His performance placed him fourth in his heat and overall, as well as fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and nineteenth nationally.
Owen Pett finished second in his heat of the 800m with a time of 1:51.63, earning seventeenth place overall. Aidan McHugh also took second in his heat, achieving a personal best of 1:54.27.
In the mile event, Tommy Flynn (4:12.57), Roman Sierpina (4:15.51), and Jack Morelli (4:16.52) each set new personal records.
Mateo Bianchi ran a personal best of 7:59.67 in the 3000m, placing him among the top thirty-five finishers and third all-time in program history for that distance. Colin Peattie followed with an 8:02.72 finish, improving his previous best by sixteen seconds and ranking within the top fifty.
Aidan Brancaccio led Boston College’s distance group in the 5000m, recording a personal best of 14:30.45.
The team will conclude its regular season at the Terrier DMR Challenge on Sunday, February 22 before heading to the ACC Championships at The TRACK at New Balance.
