Eagles punter Shamus Florio was named to the 2026 Hampshire Honor Society, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame announced on Apr. 8.
The honor recognizes college football players from all divisions who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2. This year, the society’s class is its largest in two decades, with 2,596 honorees from 365 colleges and universities. Since it began, the program has recognized over 23,000 student-athletes for their academic achievements.
Florio played in all twelve games for the Eagles during the 2025 season. He recorded a total of 49 punts covering 1,943 yards and averaged nearly forty yards per punt. Fourteen of his punts landed inside the twenty-yard line and three exceeded fifty yards, including a career-long sixty-three yard punt against Fordham on August thirty.
Eligibility for nomination to the Hampshire Honor Society requires that student-athletes be either seniors graduating in spring or summer after completing their final season or graduated players who competed in the most recent season while maintaining at least a cumulative GPA of 3.2 on a four-point scale and being starters or contributors throughout the season.
The recognition highlights both athletic contribution and academic achievement among college football players.
