Bristol County ranked 10th in state for resident earnings in 2017

Bristol County ranked 10th among counties in Massachusetts by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of Bristol County residents was an inflation-adjusted $30,386 per year. Bristol County had 215,903 households in 2017, with a population of 557,016.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Norfolk County. Norfolk County's median income was $42,889 per year after adjusting for inflation – $12,503 more than Bristol County. It had 262,324 households in 2017 and a population of 694,389.

Hampshire County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in Massachusetts, with a median income of only $25,761 per year. That was $4,625 less than the median income in Bristol County at the time. Hampshire County had 58,782 households in 2017 and a population of 161,197.
