Cost of college went up for all students at Northeastern University

Tuition and fees rose 4.1 percent for 2018-19 at Northeastern University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Massachusetts students paid $51,522 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $2,025 more than the $49,497 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 77 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 2,254 students received grants or scholarships totaling $75.9 million and 1,339 students took out student loans totaling more than $9.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (21,627), 8,807 students used grants or scholarships totaling $248.3 million, and 5,032 students took out $29.8 million in federal student loans.
