After anchoring the backline in a 1-0 victory over American, Boston University men's soccer senior Griffin Roach has repeated as the Patriot League Defender of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
A native of Canton, Mass., Roach helped the Terriers keep opponents scoreless for a combined 135 minutes, as he played the first half last Tuesday at Northeastern. In Sunday's contest, BU held the Eagles to a season-low three shot attempts and zero shots on goal.
The shutout marked BU's seventh of the season and snapped American's seven-game unbeaten streak while extending the Terriers' conference unbeaten streak to six contests.
BU has now claimed 10 PL weekly awards this fall with Roach becoming the second after senior Quinn Matulis (midfielder) to repeat. Senior Francesco Montali (goalkeeper) remains the team leader in awards earned in 2022.
Currently second place in the PL standings at 12 points with two games left, the Terriers will next host Lehigh on Saturday (Oct. 25) at 6 p.m.
