The Boston University women's basketball program has officially signed the first recruits for the Terriers' Class of 2027, announcing the additions of Aoibhe Gormley, Audrey Ericksen, and Inés Monteagudo to National Letters of Intent.

The group will arrive to BU's campus ahead of the 2023-24 academic year. The student-athletes make their way to Terrier Town from as close as Quincy, Mass. and as far as Spain, highlighting the coaching staff's efforts to attract local, national, and international talent to the program.

AOIBHE GORMLEY

5-9 · Guard · Quincy, Mass. · Thayer Academy

  • Gormley will arrive to BU from just outside the city of Boston in Quincy, Mass., attending Thayer Academy.
  • As a junior last season, she was named the NEPSAC Class A Player of the Year while Thayer posted a 17-4 record, garnering the top seed in the NEPSAC Class A Championships and reaching the finals.
  • She was also an All-ISL First Team and Patriot Ledger/Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team honoree that year, averaging 15.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game.
  • Following her junior campaign, PrepGirlsHoops.com ranked her as the fourth-best prospect among NEPSAC student-athletes in the Class of 2023.
  • Gormley also starred in track and field, picking up ISL titles in the 200- and 400-meter dash. She ran a leg on the 4x400 that was victorious at New Englands.

Head Coach Melissa Graves on Gormley: "Aoibhe is a super crafty guard with an impressive IQ. She is not only talented, but she is fun to watch. She has the ability to not only score the ball, but to set her teammates up for success with her passing ability. Aoibhe has the capacity to affect the game in so many facets, from her pace in the full court to her role as a floor general. We are excited to have such a great addition to our team."

AUDREY ERICKSEN

6-0 · Guard · Cary, N.C. · Green Level High School

  • Ericksen will head to Boston from North Carolina, where she has been a two-time Tri-8 First Team All-Conference selection and three-time Academic All-Conference pick at Green Level.
  • In her junior season, she earned First Team All-Conference honors while adding a Second Team All-District 5 spot as the Gators reached the Elite 8 in the NCHSAA 4A state playoffs.
  • As a sophomore, she averaged 11.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game to receive All-Conference First Team recognition.
  • She led Green Level in rebounds per game in her freshman year with 8.7, and was named an All-Conference Honorable mention.
  • Ericksen has played AAU ball with the NC Attack U17 squad.

Coach Graves on Ericksen: "Audrey is the type of teammate who makes everyone around her better. She is a natural leader and has an innate ability to communicate in an effective way. Her ability to facilitate and score at multiple positions makes her a difficult matchup for opponents. Audrey absolutely loves the game of basketball and has a unique and relentless pursuit of excellence. We cannot wait to have her competitive spirit join us over the next four years."

INÉS MONTEAGUDO

5-11 · Guard · Valencia, Spain · Valencia Basket Club

  • Inés Monteagudo will travel from Valencia, Spain, to become the second international recruit under Coach Graves.
  • She has been a member of the Spanish National Team from the U12 roster all the way to U17.
  • This summer, she helped guide Spain to a silver medal at the 2022 U17 FIBA Women's World Cup in Hungary.
  • In addition, she has been a part of Valencia's regional team for seven seasons, beginning with the U12 squad.
  • Monteagudo has also been a member of the Valencia Basket Club, where she averaged 13.3 points and 5.8 assists per game last season.

Coach Graves on Monteagudo: "Inés has an incredible understanding of the game of basketball. She has competed at a high level for many years and, in doing so, brings a set of experiences that will benefit our program greatly. Not only can she score at multiple levels, but she has a strong ability to defend as well. Her capacity to impact the game on both ends of the floor make her a very important piece to our program."
