As of 8am Tuesday January 24, 2023 the decision was made to declare a local state of emergency in Ashby Massachusetts in order to bring in more resources to deal with the many downed trees, wires, and power outages.Crews from

  • Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation
  • MP’s Lawn & Landscaping
  • Asplundh Tree Services
are currently working across town to cut and move trees and limbs that were downed in our last storm.

  • Multiple crews from Unitil and contractors from as far away as Canada are also in town with hopes of a speedy restoration in our town.
  • Ashby COA and it’s team of volunteers have been in touch with our seniors and have been providing welfare checks, lunches and dinners, as well as visits.
  • Fitchburg Emergency Management has a shelter at the Senior Center located at 14 Wallace Ave Fitchburg MA. it will be open and available to all as an emergency shelter. All are welcome. Sleeping cots will be available.
If you require shelter and are coming, be sure to bring any medications you may be taking, non-perishable foods, and water. However, please keep all personal items to a minimum. At this time pets will not be allowed. However, if the storm persists for longer than 24 hours, assistance will be provided regarding them.
