Men's Basketball Posts 66-53 Win over Loyola Maryland
Helped by 11 3-pointers and nine steals, the Boston University men's basketball team returned to its winning ways with a 66-53 victory over Loyola Maryland on Saturday afternoon at Case Gym.
The Terriers (10-11, 3-5 PL) snapped a four-game losing streak by dispatching the Greyhounds (7-14, 2-6 PL) in their first meeting since BU's Patriot League quarterfinal win last March. BU only shot 43.8 FG% against Loyola's 44.9 FG% performance but posted advantages in free throws (13-4), 3-pointers (11-5) and second-chance opportunities (12-6) with a 14-5 lead in fastbreak points.
Graduate student Walter Whyte was one of four with multiple 3-pointers, as he tallied a team-high 15 points. Senior Ethan Brittain-Watts added 13 points, while graduate student Jonas Harper netted nine off three buckets from behind the arc. Junior Anthony Morales dished out a career-tying four assists, and graduate student Fletcher Tynen hauled in a game-high six rebounds.
Kenneth Jones led all players with 16 points alongside three helpers as the lone Greyhound in double figures. Golden Dike could have joined him but went 1-of-7 at the charity stripe to finish at seven points. Alonso Faure posted six points and six rebounds.
