The Boston University women's golf team stands in eighth place after the opening day of competition at the 2023 River Landing Classic, hosted by UNCW at River Landing. 

The 11-team field played 36 holes on Monday as the Terriers opened with a 301, which was good for second, before following it up with a 310 for a score of 611 (+35).

Senior Alice Fan had the team's low round of the day as she opened with a 1-under 71 for her best score of the season. She was tied for second after the opening 18 but fell back following an 86 in the second round to sit in a tie for 43rd at +13 (157). In the morning, she recorded two birdies, one bogey and 15 pars en route to the 71. 

Sophomore Christy Chen is tied for 10th overall after carding a 75-74--149 (+5) on Monday. Junior Flair Kuan is also in the top 20, currently tied for 19th at +7 (76-75--151).

Playing in her second tournament as a Terrier, freshman Annika Manjunath opened with an 81 and then shaved off four strokes in the afternoon with a 77 to put her in a tie for 47th at +14 (158). Chen, Kuan and Manjunath each had two birdies in the second round.

Senior Kristen Min Ju Kim (79-84--163) and sophomore Victoria Takai (83-80--163) are tied for 56th at +19 while sophomore Andrea Balaguer (83-82--165) is tied for 61st at +21. Takai and Balaguer are playing as individuals.

BU will enter Tuesday's final round just 10 strokes out of third place. James Madison has the team lead after the first day at +11 (587).
