Grad student Shelly Yaloz of the Boston University women's tennis team was named the Patriot League Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. The honor follows her 4-0 performance at the No. 1 spot in singles over spring break and is her first league honor of the season.
Yaloz's most notable win of the week came against then-No. 43 Denver when she took down No. 65 Taylor Melville in a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 decision. The win is the highest-ranked singles win for the Terriers since 2020.
In BU's victory over Long Beach State, Yaloz helped the Terriers get their third point in the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win. Additionally, she clinched the doubles point and the match victory in BU's 5-2 win over Cal State Fullerton. The grad student was also one of three Terriers to win their singles match at CSUN.
BU will be back in action on Saturday (March 18) when it travels to Brown for a 3 p.m. match.
