After pitching a shutout at Fairfield with a career-high 10 strikeouts, Boston University softball senior Allison Boaz was named Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The award marks BU's fourth in the circle this year with Boaz earning her second after freshman Kasey Ricard previously claimed two honors. Boaz now owns seven total to rank fifth in the record book for weekly pitcher awards from a conference.
Boaz went the distance against the Stags in a game that saw BU score three runs through the first six innings before pulling away in the seventh with six more runs. Boaz's 10 strikeouts topped her previous high of seven set six times, including against Charleston and Illinois State this season.
The reigning PL Pitcher of the Year collected her 37th career win (t-10th at BU) and 15th overall shutout (8th best).
The announcement came out just as BU and Yale got underway in a doubleheader. The Terriers will take the field again on Wednesday with two games at Merrimack starting at 2 p.m.
