Following the 4-3 upset of then-No. 49 Brown, the Boston University women's tennis team broke into the ITA National Rankings on Tuesday and is No. 73 in the nation. Additionally, sophomore Michelle Kleynerman was named the Patriot League Player of the Week following her performance in the match.
BU's spot at No. 73 marks the first time it is in the ITA National Rankings since the 2011 season. The Terriers were last ranked on March 15, 2011, when they were No. 68.
Kleynerman went a combined 2-0 at Brown in singles and doubles. She and grad student Shelly Yaloz were the lone doubles pair to win its match, doing so in a 6-3 decision. In singles, Kleynerman played in the No. 2 spot and forced a third set. Her 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-2 win helped BU to its third point in the match and brought it one step closer to securing the upset.
BU will be back in action on Saturday (March 25) when it travels to Yale for a 1 p.m. match.
