The Boston University men's track & field team swept the men's weekly Patriot League Awards, the conference announced Tuesday. Senior Foster Malleck was named the track athlete of the week, sophomore Ryan Rosenberger was named the field athlete of the week and freshman Freddy Collins took rookie of the week.
Malleck competed in the 5,000m at the Raleigh Relays to open the outdoor season. He led the Terriers in the event with a time of 14:12.95 which is currently the fastest outdoor 5,000m time in the Patriot League. He also owns the 46th-fastest time in the NCAA.
Rosenberger competed in the long jump and the 110m hurdles at the UMass Lowell Spring Invitational. In the long jump, he placed first with a mark of 7.39m (24' 3") which is 36th in the NCAA. Not only did this set a personal best, but it also marked the fourth-best jump in BU history. Notably, the sophomore finished fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.30.
Collins also ran in the 5,000m race at the Raleigh Relays and was second to finish for BU. He placed 77th in a field of 205 runners and was the 14th freshman to cross the finish line. His time of 14:20.60 was the fastest time of a first-year Patriot League member in the event for the outdoor season.
The Terriers will compete at the Pepsi Florida Relays beginning on March 31 and the UConn Dog Fight on April 1.
