MAYNARD, MA — On Monday, July 10, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) met with state officials and community members at Maynard’s Assabet Co-op Market to tour the newly-opened community space and welcome the town to Massachusetts’ Fifth Congressional District. The meeting included State Senator Jamie Eldridge, State Representative Kate Hogan, Maynard Town Administrator Greg Johnson, Maynard Selectboard Member Mike Stevens, Maynard Town Planner Bill Nemser, Assabet Co-op Market Board Vice Chair Evan Merck, and Assabet Co-op Market General Manager Sam McCormick.
“Maynard is rich in history and culture — and now a part of our MA-5 family,” said Whip Clark. “I am thrilled to celebrate our district's newest addition, and I look forward to deepening my relationship with the community. From education funding to lowering costs to cleaning our water and air, I’m working in Washington to deliver for Maynard residents and ensure everyone has the tools and opportunities they need to thrive.”
“The state and local delegation were delighted to host Congresswoman Clark for a discussion of Maynard's ambitions and goals around infrastructure, housing, the Powder Mill Road projects, school renovations and water quality,” said Rep. Hogan. “We know we have a strong partner in Congress with Representative Clark and look forward to a productive partnership.”
“It was great to meet with Congresswoman Katherine Clark at the Assabet Co-Op Market, to discuss how federal policies can best support the town of Maynard,” said Senator Jamie Eldridge. “From water infrastructure to transportation to affordable housing to better connecting the community to the Assabet River, there's so much to partner with the federal government on. I'm excited to continue to work together with Congresswoman Clark, and I'm grateful for what she has already done, that has delivered real results for the people of Maynard.”
"Our community-owned grocery store is committed to prioritizing local food producers and healthy food access for all, regardless of income," said Sam McCormick, Assabet Co-op Market General Manager. "We're thrilled to have Congresswoman Clark's support in our mission and in building a cooperative economy that puts people, not profits, first."
