A Lenox resident, Paul J. Bruzzi, has been sentenced in federal court for attempting to transfer obscene material to a minor. The sentencing took place in Springfield, where U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni imposed a 14-month prison term followed by three years of supervised release on the 37-year-old man.

Bruzzi had pleaded guilty in July 2024 to one count of attempting to transfer obscene material to a minor. The charges stemmed from incidents beginning in September 2022, when Bruzzi engaged with an undercover federal investigator posing as a 14-year-old girl through social media applications. During these interactions, he attempted to coerce the supposed minor into sending him photographs and sent her nine images and videos of himself exposing his genitalia.

The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Boston Division. They acknowledged the support provided by the Salisbury and Winchester Police Departments in Massachusetts. Assistant U.S. Attorney Neil L. Desroches, Chief of the Springfield Branch Office, is handling the prosecution.
