Thomas Cowan sets school record and earns third Patriot League weekly honor

Sophomore Thomas Cowan from Boston University has been named the Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week, according to an announcement by the league on Tuesday.

Cowan achieved a time of 1:46.83 in the 800 meters at the Valentine Invitational held on Friday, February 13. He finished third in his event, competing from the fourth heat. This performance set a new Boston University record and currently leads all times in the Patriot League. Additionally, Cowan’s time ties the New Zealand indoor record and ranks him tied for 18th nationally in the NCAA this season. The Auckland, New Zealand native has now received this weekly honor three times during this season.

The Boston University men’s track & field team will compete next at the Brown Invite on Saturday, February 21.
