Three former Boston University women’s ice hockey players, Tamara Giaquinto, Nadia Mattivi, and Marie-Philip Poulin, helped the Montreal Victoire secure the 2026 Walter Cup Finals with a 3-1 series win over the Ottawa Charge, according to a May 20 announcement. Montreal claimed its first-ever Walter Cup after winning game four in a 4-0 decision following a scoreless first period.

The achievement marks the first time that Terriers alumni have won the Walter Cup since its creation in 2023. Poulin contributed eight points in nine playoff games with two goals and six assists. She recorded one assist in game four on Montreal’s opening goal and another assist in game two. Both of her postseason goals were game winners; one came during triple overtime against Minnesota Frost on May 5 and another early in the third period on May 12 to send Montreal to the finals.

Mattivi made four appearances during the playoffs, all taking place during the finals. The rookie earned an assist on Montreal’s first goal in game two and was credited with five hits across four games as a defender.

Giaquinto did not play during the postseason but appeared in twelve regular season games for Montreal as a rookie. She finished with a plus-two rating, eleven blocks, and one hit credited.

Rebecca Leslie also participated in this year’s Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) postseason for Ottawa Charge. Leslie scored six points from four goals and two assists over eight games. Notably, she forced a fourth game in the finals by scoring at nineteen minutes into the third period of game three—her fifth career professional game-winner but her first such tally during postseason play.
