680 coaches at institutions in Suffolk County earned $75,290 on average in 2022

Suffolk County’s 680 coaches earned an average salary of $75,290 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the third highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Massachusetts post-secondary schools during 2022.

Suffolk County is home to 10 post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Northeastern University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $152,532.

Male coaches of men's teams received $72,400 on average in Suffolk County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $60,065.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
